Nahariya, ISRAEL
Israel’s
fourth largest city, Ramat-Gan (Garden Height), adjoins Tel
Aviv. Established in 1914 by a group of Eastern European settlers
as an agricultural suburb, the settlement originally prohibited
factories. Today, however, Ramat-Gan is one of the country’s
most important centers of trade, industry and commerce, known
for the production of building materials, food preserves,
cigarettes and textile spinning, weaving & dyeing.
Ramat-Gan also leads the country in education, culture and
social awareness. Highlights include: the Ramat-Gan Theater,
Library Theater, Bat Zvi School of Performing Arts and the
Russell Cultural Center, which hosts choral performances,
stage appearances & children’s theatre.
Built on limestone hills at about 80 meters above sea level,
Ramat-Gan enjoyes a temperate climate with a relatively high
rainfall. Over 25% of this beautiful city is devoted to public
parks and gardens. It’s an active tourist destination with
elegant hotels and summer homes.
